Supervised Practice Experience (SPE) Programs in Advanced Nutrition – Overview

SPE HANDBOOK
Many graduates of ACNPE-accredited Master’s degree programs go on to earn the Certified Nutrition Specialist (CNS) credential and obtain state licensure. To be eligible for the CNS, candidates must complete 1000 supervised practice hours in a clinical setting.

The curriculum of accredited SPE programs is designed to provide candidates with the ability to demonstrate proficiency of the competencies expected in entry-level practice as advance-degreed nutrition professionals.

Whether the Supervise Practice Experience (SPE) Program is part of an accredited degree Program, affiliated with a university, or non-affiliated with a university, ACNPE accreditation ensures that the Program meets high quality standards consistent with those set for the didactic education provided by the Master’s degree.
